Tropicasa Tips – Paying Your Water Bill

Our last post from our Tropicasa Tips series explained how to pay your Puerto Vallarta vehicle registration, otherwise known as paying your “placas”. This week, we have another important item you may want to add to your 2025 to-do list: prepaying your annual water bill to save 10%.

The water utility in Puerto Vallarta is called SEAPAL and if you own a condo in PV, your water bill may be included in your monthly HOA fees, but for many condo owners and nearly all homeowners in Vallarta, the SEAPAL bill for water use will come monthly.

From now until February 28th, you can just make one easy trip to the SEAPAL office and pay your account in advance to take advantage of a 10% discount on your total 2025 water bill with the utility company.

The total payable amount will be determined based on your home’s average consumption throughout 2024 and adjusted to this year’s current rate. Come the end of 2025, if your usage amount is over or under, your statement will be corrected to reflect the difference.

If you’d like to take advantage of this discount, simply visit the closest SEAPAL office:

  • Puerto Vallarta Office: Av. Francisco Villa at the corner of Manuel Ávila Camacho
  • Pitillal Office: Av. Prisciliano Sánchez No. 400
  • Ixtapa Office: Mexico No. 164

All locations are open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and you should bring your last SEAPAL bill, your proof of residency, a Mexican bank card /credit card or sufficient pesos to complete your transaction.

NOTE: for those new to Puerto Vallarta, SEAPAL is the utility which provides water to your home for plumbing and appliances and is a separate entity from drinking water delivery services.

Check in next week when our how-to series will have an easy explanation on one of our most frequently asked questions: what is a fideicomiso and how does in work?
