One of the fun parts of owning a home in Puerto Vallarta is adding some Mexican traditions into your celebrations. And there is never a better time than New Year’s Eve, as Mexico has some charming superstitions and traditions that will make welcoming 2017 even more festive. Here are a few or our favorites.
12 Grapes
This is one of the most practiced New Year’s traditions in Mexico. A bowl of 12 grapes, each one representing a month of the year, is placed on the table. Each sweet grape represents a month of happiness and prosperity, but a sour grape means a tough month ahead.
Cleaning the House
Who doesn’t want to start a fresh new year with a tidy house? But houses in Mexico get an extra good cleaning to “sweep out” all the negative energy and let in the positive for the new year. Tossing a bucket of water out the window also has the same effect….but if you own a Puerto Vallarta condo, be sure to look out for passersby below!
Colored Underwear
Who knew your lingerie could attract more than just your partner? Wear yellow underwear to attract money and success during 2017, or red if you are on the hunt for love.
Luggage
Have an itch to travel in 2017? At midnight, take a walk around the block with an empty suitcase and travel plans will emerge in the New Year.
From the entire team at Tropicasa Realty, we wish you a Happy New Year and that 2017 brings health, happiness and a new home in Puerto Vallarta!
